D&amp;egrave;s l'enfance, il montre beaucoup d&amp;rsquo;int&amp;eacute;r&amp;ecirc;t pour la faune et la flore. &amp;Agrave; l&amp;rsquo;&amp;acirc;ge adulte, il voyage autour du monde pour explorer la nature et pour trouver de nouveaux sujets pour ses toiles. N&amp;rsquo;ayant pas eu l&amp;rsquo;intention de vivre de son art, il devient professeur d&amp;rsquo;histoire tout en continuant &amp;agrave; peindre. Il s&amp;rsquo;illustre d&amp;rsquo;abord en r&amp;eacute;alisant des peintures abstraites et c&amp;rsquo;est &amp;agrave; partir du d&amp;eacute;but des ann&amp;eacute;es&amp;nbsp;1960 qu&amp;rsquo;il se met &amp;agrave; peindre des paysages r&amp;eacute;alistes. Entre 1970 et 1980, le travail de Robert Bateman commence &amp;agrave; &amp;ecirc;tre reconnu. Il quitte alors le monde de l&amp;rsquo;enseignement pour se consacrer compl&amp;egrave;tement &amp;agrave; la peinture. Plusieurs expositions lui sont sp&amp;eacute;cialement consacr&amp;eacute;es, dont celle du &lt;em&gt;Smithsonian Institution &lt;/em&gt;de Washington, en 1987.&amp;nbsp;Ses tableaux refl&amp;egrave;tent ses engagements pour la protection de la nature. Il utilise son art pour la d&amp;eacute;fense de l&amp;rsquo;environnement. Plusieurs de ses tableaux ont &amp;eacute;t&amp;eacute; choisis par la fondation de la faune du Qu&amp;eacute;bec pour illustrer leur timbre de conservation. Il est aussi le cr&amp;eacute;ateur de &lt;em&gt;The Robert Bateman Foundation &lt;/em&gt;qui a pour objectif d&amp;rsquo;encourager le respect de la nature. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</text>
