L'éditeur récupère la propriété du fonds de la <span>Libraire Deterville qui avait publi&eacute <em>L'Histoire Naturelle</em> de Buffon. Le travail de Buffon avait été abrégé et les suites à Buffon sont composées des extraits non publiés initialement dans l'<em>Histoire Naturelle</em>. De grands scientifiques comme Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck et </span>Charles-François Brisseau de Mirbel sont aussi publiés dans la série des <em>Suites à Buffon</em>.

Biographie
<p>Elizabeth Butterworth est une artiste anglaise née en 1949. Elle est particulièrement connue pour ses travaux sur les perroquets. Elle fait partie de la lignée des artistes, ornithologues anglais comme <a href="/omeka/items/show/137">John Gould</a> et <a href="/omeka/items/show/14">Archibald Thorburn</a>, mais son travail s’approche plus de celui d’<a href="/omeka/items/show/254">Edward Lear</a>.</p>
<p>Ses dessins sont extrêmement réalistes. C’est l’un des aspects qui a particulièrement attiré l’attention du public sur ses toiles. Elle est aussi connue pour avoir participé à l’élaboration de publication de très grande qualité. Elle a notamment collaboré avec Rosemary Low sur des ouvrages comme; <a href="http://atrium.umontreal.ca/notice/UM-ALEPH002167490" target="_blank"><em>Parrots and Cockatoos</em></a>, publié en 1978 et <a href="http://atrium.umontreal.ca/notice/UM-ALEPH002144863" target="_blank"><em>Amazon Parrots</em></a>, publié en 1983. </p>
